Ongoing Judging Book (Cover, Prereads until Review) : The Nightmare Room Camp Nowhere by R.L. Stine

Before I start, this is my first post about prereading until review, which means this post is an ongoing process that may take months to finish.

We need to align our mutual understanding of "preread". The word "preread" in this context refers to informal resource specifically novels (fiction books for upper primary level of students until elder). From what I've gathered, preread means skimming the whole main points of the book, not the story, could be the title, cover, chapters and allow the reader to predict what kind of story or whether they would take the time to read it or not. The previous definition of preread is a combination of Richard Nordquist's (2019) explanation of what a preread is and my point of view as a reader and how I'm gonna write down the preread of the novel I'm going to talk about in this post. So this is not an academic prereading, one that I must emphasize to let no further misunderstanding or disappointment from fellow readers hehe.

First entry of my judgement of this book, I choose this book from the library where I work at (yes, I'm an actual librarian), however my field of work focuses on IB school libraries, which involves research and continuous growth of knowledge's scopes in terms of educational library, formal/academic research, copyrights issue aka academic honesty, and many more, the more proper term for my position is "teacher librarian".

Obviously, I'm still talking about preread, but still on the context of its cover. I'm not going to lie that I am highly intrigued by this book because of this cover, the illustrator has done a remarkable job I can say, it's a good promotional value that every book or publisher must prioritize too. Why do I think the cover looks good? it is an unusual one, the title is "Camp Nowhere" and it doesn't show any glimpse of objects that correlate with camping at all, however it has one entity that connects well, which is well.. human. Multiple human, it's a boy, but all alike, however only one has normal eyes, the rest is abnormal, it's giving one clue to allow me to predict about the story. Is it about a ghost? but it's a glowy eyes, it is giving me sci-fi vibe.

Book Review : Fear Street - Ski Weekend : a totally perfect planned or "plotted" holiday?

A bit refreshing to read knowing it's basically about somebody's weekend is about to get ruined, their planned holiday, like literally all planned out so well that they didn't even expect everything. However, I may have to inform that in my book review, I do discuss about the aspect of few storyline, therefore there will be a lot of spoiler, I even explain the whole plot.  Title : Fear Street : Ski Weekend Author : R.L Stine Year : 1991 Collation : 180 pages Serial killer lurking around the ski lodge, shutting down their lights, turning off their electricity, forcing its way inside then murdering them all one by one. Nope, it's not one of those serial killer during holiday story, it's different, with lots of creativity and unexpected complication, the climax is right nearing the end of the book, so we have to be patient. I was almost satisfied with how well it turns out, what makes this different from other fear streets is that this isn't even taking place in Sh...

Interpreting The Head from Cursed Bunny by Bora Chung

I’ll be ending this post by applying the formulation of 4Ps (purpose, preview, prior-knowledge and predict) to complete the pre-reading steps. I haven’t finished the whole book but I wrapped up the first chapter quick. I was really interested by the very first page, and I think it’s very important for an author to grab the attention of reader within the first few paragraphs. I was reading it on my bed with my sleeping husband by my side, while I inhale in and out my taro-tasted vape to replace a coffee while I read. Because I am a FOMO, I love to see booktok, a trend emerging from tiktok for fellow book readers, and thanks to booktok—I found this book. The first page was very intriguing for me, I loved how it helps to make the story even more intense without having to go all the way hundreds of pages to get to the climax. Exactly the first page was the climax then it slows down a bit but very slowly.  At the end of this chapter titled “The Head”, I tried to explore my prior knowled...
